The NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) is an Australian government program that helps people with disabilities live more independently.
How it works
- Eligible participants with a permanent and significant disability can join the NDIS.
- Once accepted, you work with a planner or Local Area Coordinator (LAC) to create a plan: your goals, daily living needs, and the supports you require.
- You can then use your NDIS funding to access supports, including daily care, equipment, home modifications, skill development, and more.
- Plans can be reviewed and adjusted as your needs change.
Why it matters
- Gives you more control over your life
- Improves quality of life with the right supports
- Provides access to local resources, community, and social activities
